Well what a week it has been! Just a forewarning to anyone
that is coming to the MTC soon, those first few days are BRUTAL! Don't
get me wrong it was so much good knowledge and stuff from the man
upstairs but it was very, very overwhelming. The saying make it til Sunday is SO true! Since Sunday, the days have FLOWN by. Monday we said goodbye to our Zone Leaders as they headed off to Las Vegas West mission, and Tuesday the rest of them left for Washington Kennewick! I made sure to tell them to look for Elder Calhoun and Elder Crewse!
Monday
we have our first TRC investigator, who is just an actor basically. Me
and Kelsch have Arnold, who talks and talks and talks. But he LOVES
Jesus, I love Jesus, everybody loves Jesus, so once we can channel that
his tangents toward the gospel the lessons go awesome! We only teach one
more time, so we have a LOT to cover. There really isn't a lot to write
about in the MTC, just cuz its the same stuff everyday jafeel? But I
feel the Spirit so strong here and I love every second of it.
I also made the bold decision to sing in the choir for Devo. It was
pretty fun (Mom you win)! We sang Nearer My God To Thee, and the
Sisters are like MoTab material. Seriously amazing. So the Devo was Don
R. Clarke, and he talked a lot about the good word, and I would tell you
more but I would have to kill you... JK I just don't have my notes
nearby. But it was fantastico. I am pumped to see who speaks next week!
Speaking of next week, I leave Wednesday morn at 3:30 a.m.!! WHAT!! We meet at the chapel @ 3:30,
then go to SLC on the train. So mom. I will be calling sometime that
morning. I can't call until I get through security, and my flight leaves
at 8:30. So I would imagine I will call between 6:30 and 8:00 a.m. Utah time on Wednesday morning. So rise and shine early, and I will call y'all for a little bit.
So here is a funny embarrassing story that I will share since that
is what goes down up here in the hood. So last P day we went to Main
Campus and I wanted to get a BoM in Hmong. Just for funsies. So I got a
BoM, and started trying to translate in some free time. I found out on
like Tuesday
that it was in freakin Hungarian! All those languages are the same to
me, so I never would have known that is wasn't Hmong. So I went back
today and got a real Hmong one. The only reason I got it was because
Sister Childers said they don't teach Hmong at the MTC. SHE LIED! She
was probably on drugs when she said that... lol. Elder Jones (Huntter
Jones) who is going to Cambodia introduced me to the missionaries going
to Minnesota speaking Hmong. UGGHHH. Oh well I am gonna try it.
Apparently nothing sounds like how it is pronounced, so I am just
basically reading jibberish.
Another funny story. So everywhere I go I say hello in another
language, or greet people in another language. So I say gutentag to
everyone, because I can respond twice in German. So when people ask like
"Are you going to Germany?!" I just say "Nope. Minnesota. English
speaking." Haha those knuckleheads can't handle the truth.
Just want you all to know that I KNOW that this is
the restored gospel. I KNOW that the Book of Mormon is another true
Testament of Jesus Christ. I KNOW that Jesus Christ is my Savior and
Redeemer. I KNOW this church is true, and I hope those people in MN are
ready for this whirling dirvish of missionaries! Today I get to go to
the temple in a couple hours so I am SO stoked!
Ofa lahi atu!
Elder Evans
p.s.
Written letters are the bees knees so once I'm in the frozen paradise
of Minnesota or wherever I would "prefer" written. Especially because I
dont have all that much time on the computer.
p.p.s I saw a couple more people I know! Elder St.
Gelais is in West Campus, as well as Sister Bumm, and Sister Arnson. I
saw both of them when I was hosting the new missionaries. Elder Moore is
the only QC friend I haven't seen. And I missed Elder Fillerup. I
cried... twice... at the same time...
